On September 15, 2018, the deadline to adapt the management systems certified according to ISO 14001: 2004 to the new standard published in 2015 ends.
Before that date, organizations must adapt their systems to the new requirements, with special attention to the following:
-Determination and understanding of the context in which the organization operates, as a basis for planning the environmental management system.
-Identification of the relevant stakeholders, their needs and expectations.
-Preventive approach to the system and introduction of risk-based thinking
from prevention to protection of the environment (extended commitment).
-Life cycle thinking for the identification of environmental aspects and operational control planning.
-Demonstration of improvement through environmental performance, in line with policy commitments.
-Internal and external communication is enhanced.
-Integration of the system in all the processes of the organization and alignment with the strategic direction, emphasizing the importance of leadership.
