The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has published, today, the 15th, the new version of the Environmental Management Standard, ISO 14001.
The main novelties of the new version of the standard are summarized in five key issues:
Leadership; business strategy; greater protection of the environment; the life cycle approach; and lastly, more effective communication.
The main objective of the review is to facilitate the integration of this standard in the other Management Systems and make them more accessible to all types of organizations. Thus, it shares the so-called high-level structure, common to all management standards.
The period of adaptation to the requirements of the new standard for conducting the certification audit that leads to the renewal of the old certificates of Environmental Management Systems will be 3 years (September 2018).
